Apple TV & iPhone

It helps to include which Apple TV and iPhone you have, and the make and model of your cameras or recorder.

What you need

Getting started

  1. Put your iPhone and Apple TV on the same Wi-Fi as your cameras, and open Camwall on both.
  2. On the Apple TV, choose Pair. It shows a code. In the Camwall app on your iPhone, choose Scan Pairing Code and point the iPhone at the code.
  3. On your iPhone, choose Search This Network to find ONVIF cameras and recorders, or Add by RTSP Address for a camera that doesn't use ONVIF.
  4. Choose Send at the bottom of the screen. Your cameras appear on the TV.

Everything is set up on the iPhone. You never need to type anything on the Apple TV.

Troubleshooting

Scanning the code with the iPhone's Camera app just shows text

Scan the pairing code from inside the Camwall app on your iPhone, using Scan Pairing Code, not with the iPhone's Camera app.

The iPhone won't open its camera to scan the code

Camwall uses the camera only to read the pairing code. If camera access is off, turn it on in the iPhone's Settings under Camwall, then come back and scan. If Screen Time or a device management profile blocks the camera, whoever manages the iPhone can allow it.

The iPhone doesn't find my cameras

The Apple TV says it can't reach a camera

Check that the camera is powered on and on the same network as the Apple TV. Then, on the Apple TV, go to Settings → General → Privacy & Security → Local Network and make sure Camwall is allowed.

A change I made on the iPhone isn't on the TV

Changes stay on the iPhone until you send them. Choose Send (or Send Again) at the bottom of the screen, and keep the iPhone on the same Wi-Fi as the Apple TV while it sends.

What Camwall doesn't do

Camwall shows live video from cameras on your home network. It doesn't record, play camera audio, control pan-tilt-zoom cameras, or show your cameras when you're away from home.

Privacy

Camwall doesn't collect any information about you. Your cameras, passwords and video stay on your own iPhone, Apple TV and network. See the Camwall privacy policy for the details, including how to remove saved cameras and passwords.
